3 Tips for Putting Computers in Storage
It is a very common need for businesses to at some point have computers that must be stored. Many large businesses will have many computers that they must store in a facility for commercial storage in Las Vegas. This may be because the business has experienced layoffs, ordered too many computers, or any other of a variety of reasons. Obviously, computers are too valuable to just dispose of. Thus, businesses must know how to store them properly so they can later be used again or sold. This article provides three different tips on how to properly store computers.
Cover Them to Prevent Dust Damage
The first and arguably most important tip for storing computers is to cover them well to prevent dust damage. If computers are stored for long periods of time, dust can make its way into the various ports and even into the internal components of the computer. This can damage or even destroy the computer. There are many dust covers made just for this purpose.
Make Sure They Won’t Be Knocked Over
This tip may sound obvious, but it bears repeating. It is important when storing computers to put them in a safe place where they will not be knocked over by people who need to get other items out of storage. Computers are fragile and can be damaged or destroyed if they get knocked over, especially if it happens repeatedly. One suggestion is to store computers in their original boxes with a great deal of bubble tape and place them in the back of a storage area.
Disconnect All Cables and Store Them Separately
It is also very important to disconnect all of the cables from the computer and store them separately to prevent damage from twisting or bending. Make sure to label each cable clearly as you disconnect it. This is an important step for reconnection. In addition, disconnecting cables ensures the computers will take up minimal space when stored. This part of the process may be a pain, but it will be worth it in the end.
